| The Arts Of Happiness |

Among the greatest of blessings is to have a calm, stable, and happy heart. For in happiness the mind is clear, enabling one to be a productive person. It has been said that happiness is an art that needs to be learnt. And if you learn it, you will be blessed in this life. But how does one learn it? A basic principle of achieving happiness is having an ability to endure and to cope with any situation. Therefore you should neither be swayed nor governed by difficult circumstances, nor should you be annoyed by insignificant trifles. Based on the purity of the heart and its ability to endure, a person will shine. When you train yourself to be patient and forbearing, then hardship and calamity will be easy for you to bear.
The opposite of being content is being short-sighted, being concerned for no one but one’s own self and forgetting about the world and all that is in it. Allah described his enemies as follows:
“Thinking about themselves [as how to save their own selves, ignoring the others and the Prophet]...” Surah Al-Imran – Ayah 154.
It is as if such people see themselves as being the whole universe, or at least at the centre of it. They think not of others, nor do they live for anyone but themselves. It is incumbent upon you and I to take time out to be preoccupied with more than just ourselves, and to sometimes distance ourselves from our own problems in order to forget our wounds and hurts. By doing this we gain two things: we make ourselves happy, and we bring joy to others.
Basic to the art of happiness is to bridle our thoughts and to restrain them, not allowing them to wander, stray, escape, or go wild. For if you were to leave your thoughts to wander as they wish, then they will run wild and control you. They will open the catalogue of your past woes. They will remind you of the history of your misfortunes, beginning from the day that your mother gave you birth. If your thoughts are left to roam, then they will bring to you images of past difficulties and images of a future that is frightening. These thoughts will shake your very being and will cause your feelings to flare. Therefore bridle them, and restrain them by directing them to the concentrated application of the kind of serious thought that begets fruitful and beneficial work.
“And put your trust in the Ever-Living One Who dies not.” Surah Al-Furqan – Ayah 58.

| Hardships .... |

Abu Hurairah reported that the prohphet sallallahu alaihi wasalam said, "Hardships continue to befall a believing man and woman in their body, family and property until they meet Allah burdened with no sins." [Tirmidhi] Ever wonder why you get sick? Why you fall down the stairs, stub your toe, lose your paper on the computer, wreck your car, feel sad and depressed from "that problem".....???? WHY???? Well, the good news is that Allah is cleaning you of your sins and preparing you for the day that you go home and meet Him. All of these "trials" clean you, so that on the day that you die, not only will the cloth you are wrapped in be clean but you too will be clean of all your sins. But, remember to be patient. Next time Allah tries you, remember that it is from Allah and that He is purifying you of your sins, so smile and as Yaqoob told us, "Have a beautiful patience..." [al-Quraan 12:18] It is beautiful because you KNOW that Allah's relief is coming soon: "With every difficulty there must come relief ....." [al-Quraan 94:6] We always complain when we are tested, but how easily we forget all the days we sinned against Allah .... But beacuse Allah is the Most Merciful and the Most Wise, with every test that He sends you, He is teaching you something. There is always a wisdom. Even in the smallest of tests, He is teaching you something or sending you a reminder. Make sure to get His lesson and be patient- the Most Merciful is purifying you!

| FOR YOU, MOM AND DAD |

FOR YOU,
If I have to be with you, I need to know if you can be my guiding lights. I came from my Creator and I want an assurance you can raise and show me the right way back to my Creator. Will you be by my side until the end? Can I tell you my fears deep, and trust them in your heart you'll keep? Dad, i will love her 3x more than you... can you choose the best mother for me? Is it asking too much for you to give me a guiding hands that will care and teach me ways to live my life according to what my Lord wishes? Nothing is so hard but search will find it out. Defer not till to-morrow to be wise, to-morrow's sun to thee may never rise. Leave no stone unturned. Dont leave my fate to chances that she might learn it anyway, the teachings of Islam. Dont play with fate flirting with non believers, remember there is no gathering a rose without being pricked by thorns. Your weak heart might give in and by accident gave me a mother who got no lights of "ILM" to beam my way. Beware of inborn ethics passed from genes of the enemy of Islam. Mom, he will be my role model. I know for every tears i will cry, you will be there to hug and assure me of your unconditional love to soothe my fears. I will give you joy and many warm smiles, Can we share that on good islamic environment in our home? I will not forget what's important to you, will you remember what's important to me too? With you my whole life and love to share, If only I know that You truly care?
If you can put my future over your interests and earthly desires, Then I will know you are a "NUR" light of my life most true. Finally, I pray to Allah: Let not that happen which I wish, but that which is right, as I am aware not by years but by attitude is wisdom and islamic knowledge acquired. *~fi sabilillah~* Kindly send this to brothers and illigible sisters. | Preparing for Death |

Preparing for Death By Khalid Baig "Suppose you learn today that you have only one more day to live; you'll die tomorrow. How will you spend your last day?" This interview question was posed long before the age of mass media. The interviewer approached prominent scholars and people known for their virtuous lives with the idea that he would compile their answers in a book. Such a book would provide the readers with inspiration for the most important virtues. But the most inspiring response came from the person who did not provide a wish list of virtuous deeds. He was the great muhaddith Abdur Rahman ibn abi Na'um and he replied: "There is nothing that I could change in my daily schedule learning that it is my last day. I already spend everyday in my life as if it is going to be my last." Death is the most certain aspect of life. According to the latest statistics, 6178 people die in the world every hour. These are people of all ages, dying of all causes. Some of these deaths will make headlines. The great majority will die quietly. Yet everyone will enter his grave the same way. Alone. At the time appointed by God. Science and technology can neither prevent nor predict death. It is solely in the hands of the Creator. "O mankind! If you are in doubt concerning the Resurrection, then lo! We have created you from dust, then from a drop of seed, then from a clot, then from a little lump of flesh shapely and shapeless, that We may make it clear for you. And We cause what We will to remain in the wombs for an appointed time, and afterward We bring you forth as infants, then give you growth that you attain full strength. And among you there is he who dies young, and among you there is he who is brought back to the most abject time of life, so that after knowledge he knows naught!"[Al-Haj 22:5] We see it happening all the time. Yet it is amazing how we feel that it won't happen to us. At least not anytime soon. We bury our own friends and relatives but think that we'll live forever. Our attitudes about death defy all logic. In a way we recognize it and even plan for it. We take out life insurance policies. We may do estate planning. Businesses and governments have contingency plans to carry out their operations in case of sudden loss of their leaders. But this is recognition of death as an end point of this life. Where we fail is in recognizing it as the beginning of another life that will never end and where we'll reap what we sow here. A central teaching of Islam is that it is our recognition of and preparation for that eternity that must separate those who are smart from those who are not. As the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Truly smart is the person who controlled his desires and prepared for life after death." There is a moving story about Bahlool, who, in his innocence seems to be on the opposite end of the scale of worldly-smartness. Khalifa Haroon ur Rashid had given him access to his court probably because his naiveté was a source of entertainment to him. Once the Khalifa gave him a walking stick saying, "It is meant for the most foolish person in the world. If you find a person more deserving of it than yourself, pass it on." Several years later Haroon ur Rashid fell seriously ill and no medical treatment seemed to work. Bahlool visited him and inquired about his condition. The conversation went something like this: Haroon: "No treatment is working. I see my final journey ahead of me." Bahlool: "Where are you going?" Haroon: "I am going to the Other World." Bahlool: "How long will you stay there? When will you come back?" Haroon: "No one ever comes back from that world." Bahlool: "Then you must have made especial preparations for this journey. Did you send an advance group to take care of you once you arrive? Haroon: "Bahlool, you have to go there alone. And no I did not make any preparations." Bahlool: "Ameer-ul-Momineen! You used to send troops to make extensive preparations for you for even short trips of only a few days. Now you are going to a place where you'll live forever but you have made no preparations! I think I have found the person more deserving of the stick that you had given me some years ago." This story speaks to all of us. We may not be kings but we do plan our trips of even a few days very carefully. How about preparing for the journey into eternity? How about making the concern for the Hereafter the cornerstone of our lives here? Actually, that concern can change our lives here as well. This world is an abode of deception. Here we are not punished the moment we commit a sin. This fools us into thinking that we can get away with it. Remembering death is the antidote for that deception. A person who remembers that he will have to stand before his Creator and be accountable for his actions simply cannot defy God! In the story of Pharaoh, we learn that when he saw death approaching he declared belief in the God of Moses. Before that he had been fooled by his apparent power. His repentance came too late but it did show how his arrogance and intransigence evaporated when faced with the certainty of death. It is amazing how a lot of our own "confusions", frivolous arguments, excuses (for why we cannot do this or avoid that), or plane laziness can melt away when we visualize ourselves in our grave! Death settles lot of arguments. Its remembrance can do that too. Before it is too late. He was indeed a very wise person who spent everyday of his life as if it was going to be his last day. But that certainly should be the goal for all of us!

| The Rope |

The Rope
The story tells about a mountain climber, who wanted to climb the highest mountain. He begun his adventure after many years of preparation, but since he wanted the glory just for himself, he decided to climb the mountain alone. The night felt heavy in the heights of the mountain, and the man could not see any thing. Zero visibility and the moon and the stars were covered by the clouds. As he was climbing……only a few feet away from the top of the mountain, he slipped and fell in to the air……falling at a great speed. The climber could only see black spots as he wanted down and the terrible sensation of being sucked by the gravity. He kept falling……. and in the same moment of great fear, it came to his mind all the good and bad episode of his life. He was thinking now about how close the death is getting, when all of a sudden he felt the rope tied to his waist pull him very hard. His body was hanging in the air…only the rope was holding him and in that moment of shrillness he had no other choice but to scream: HELP ME GOD. All of a sudden a deep voice coming from the skies answer: What do u want me to do?? Man said: Save me God ! Do u really think I can save U?? He said: Of course I believe u Can ! The voice came, then cut he rope tied to ur waist… There was a moment of silence; and the man decided to hold on to the rope with all his strength. The rescue team tells the next day a climber was found dead and frozen…his body hanging from r rope…his hand holidng tight to it….ONLY TEN FEET AWAY FROM THE GROUND….
AND YOU? HOW ATTACHED U R TO UR ROPE??
WILL U LET GO??
Don’t ever doubt things from God. U never should say that he has forgotten or abandon u. don’t ever think that he does not take care of U. Remember that he is always holding u with his right hand.

| Where we Up to |

They say that to err is human, and doubtlessly that's true, but what they forgot to tell you is that mistakes mean growth for you. Failure never means defeat, and to slip is never a sin; instead, it's a chance to get back up and climb the hill again. Take the setbacks in stride and make failure a time of reflection. Remember that it takes practice should you hope to gain perfection. Even if you veer from the path and find yourself astray, if you hold your dream dear, you'll eventually find the way. And when you look back at the trials you endured in the past, it will be such an incredible feeling, to know that you made it at last.
Allah Is with us, Allah sees us, each an every step we take, each and every move we make, each and every breath we take, Allah is with us, each and every moment is a lesson, we learn from our mistakes, May Allah Guide us, Always, Insha'Allah, Ameen Ya Rabb. Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful, Alhamdulill ahi Rabbil a`lameen

Amr (RA) narrates that Prophet (SAW) one day delivered a sermon saying: Listen carefully! The world and its things are temporary commodity (and as such have no worth and value), shared and consumed by both the good and the evil people alike! Indeed, the Hereafter is truly a reality and will arrive at its appointed time in which Judgement will be made by a Powerful King. Listen carefully! Indeed all good, in all its varieties, is in Paradise! Indeed all evil, in all its varieties, is in the Fire. Understand it well; whatever you do, do it being fearful of Allah; and understand that you will be presented (in front of Allah) with you actions. Whosoever does an atom's worth of good, he will see it, and whosoever does an atom's worth of evil, he will see it! Source: Musnad Sha'fi.

| The nature of our slavehood to Allah |

Allah Most High explained that the only purpose and meaning for the existence of humanity is to worship Allah:
“I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me.” (Qur’an, 51.56)
The very basis of worship is submission. Raghib al-Isfahani explained that,
“Slavehood (`ubudiyya) is manifesting abasement. Worship (`ibada) is more emphatic, for it is the limits of abasement, and no one is deserving of it except the one who has absolute granting, which is Allah Most High. This is why he said, “That you not worship other than Him.” [Qur’an, 17.23]
Worship is two types:
1. Worship by compulsion…
[f: This is the state of everything in relation to its Creator; its very indigence and need to Allah in terms of creating and sustaining it is worship.]
2. Worship by choice.
[As for slavehood, this is various types, including:]
a) One who is legally a slave. [f: That is, not free.]
b) One who is a slave in terms of existence. This slavehood is only to Allah. [f: And it is the essential reality of all creation.]
c) One who is a slave by worship and service. In this, there are those who are slaves to Allah with sincerity, and whose whose slavehood is to this life and its concerns.” [Isfahani, Mufradat Alfadh al-Qur’an, 542, abbreviated]
Slavehood to Allah is not only to pray five times a day and to perform other acts of worship. Rather, it is to submit to Allah in all matters, outwardly and inwardly, as He as commanded us to, by following the guidance of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), in whose obedience lies the obedience of Allah.

| Journey Of Faith |

Has it never occurred to you that you live in a world, surrounded by miracles? Look skyward. There, without fail, every single day of your life, is the Sun.Floating in space, it hangs there, without a suspending rope, without a supporting pillar Have you ever noticed it Or thought about it? Who made it? How was it placed there?
The Sun provides an immense amount of heat and light – a single source so incredible, that if it had been any nearer or farther, temperatures on this planet would not be able to support life; it has been placed by Allah, at precisely the correct distance from earth. The core of the sun has a temperature of 15.6 million degrees, yet only a small portion of the light and heat – just sufficient for life on earth – reaches this planet. And this Sun of ours is just one, of 100 billion stars in this Universe! Subhanallah! (Glory be to Allah!) And We have made the heaven a roof, safe and well guarded. Yet they turn away from its signs (i.e. sun, moon, winds, clouds, etc.). And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating. [21:32,33] Think! Did man create the Sun? Is man the one who positions the Sun? Can man command the Sun to obey him? Can man even look into the Sun directly without hurting his eyes? Truly, Man is weak and helpless......
Indeed your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and then He rose over the Throne. He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly, and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars subjected to His Command. Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Universe (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!
Allah is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you can see. Then, He rose above the Throne. He has subjected the sun and the moon (to continue going round)! Each running (its course) for a term appointed. He regulates all affairs, explaining the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail, that you may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord.
Subhanallah (Glory be to Allah!), who has placed before us a blazing miracle of His Power and Majesty, Glory be to He, who has power over all things! Exalted is Allah who places these signs of His greatness before our eyes, so that we may grow in faith, as we perceive the miracles of life.
Think! The mind is that which sets us apart from the animals.
Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory be to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire. 3:191] Ponder, so that you may benefit, by gaining true Iman (faith). Will you not take heed? Verily, it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts which are in the breasts that grow blind.

He who, when you look at him, you remember God
Quran and Hadith
Once the Prophet was asked, “What person can be the best friend?” “He who helps you remember Allah, and reminds you when you forget Him,” he counselled. The Prophet was further asked, “Who is the best among people?” He replied, “He who, when you look at him, you remember God”. Your (real) friends are (no less than) God, His Apostle, and the (fellowship of) believers,- those who establish regular prayers and regular charity, and they bow down humbly (in worship). As to those who turn (for friendship) to God, His Apostle, and the (fellowship of) believers,- it is the fellowship of God that must certainly triumph.[Quran 5:55-56]

Smile She smiled at a sorrowful stranger. The smile seemed to make him feel better. He remembered past kindnesses of a friend And wrote him a thank you letter. The friend was so pleased with the thank you That he left a large tip after lunch. The waitress, surprised by the size of the tip, Bet the whole thing on a hunch. The next day she picked up her winnings, And gave part to a man on the street. The man on the street was grateful; For two days he'd had nothing to eat. After he finished his dinner, He left for his small dingy room. He didn't know at that moment that he might be facing his doom.
On the way he picked up a shivering puppy And took him home to get warm. The puppy was very grateful To be in out of the storm. That night the house caught on fire. The puppy barked the alarm. He barked till he woke the whole household And saved everybody from harm. One of the boys that he rescued Grew up to be President. All this because of a simple smile . . .That hadn't cost a cent.

| What will I say to Him? ! |

" A man known as Abu Abdallah said: I don't know how to explain an experience I lived through a while ago, that changed my whole life routine. The truth is that I would never have decided to reveal it, if it weren't for the fact that I felt a responsibility towards Allah (The Glorious), as a warning for the young men who disobey Allah, and as a warning for the young women who follow a fake dream or fantasy called "love". We were three friends, nothing grouped us together but disobedience and misguidance. No, actually we were four, the Shaytan was the fourth.
We used to go hunting down beautiful girls, and lure them with our sweet talk to far away farms. There, they would be surprised that we have turned into foxes with no sympathy, no feelings whatsoever, no matter what they said or did to make us reconsider. We were cold hearted, and had no feelings or any sense of shame. That is how we spent our days and nights; in the farms,camps, cars, and on the shore.Until the day that I will never forget came.
We went as usual to the farm, everything was ready. Each one of us had his prey, the damned drink (i.e., alcohol), but we forgot one thing, and it was the food. So after a while, one of my friends went to buy food for supper with his car. It was almost 6 p.m. When he left.
Hours passed without him returning, so at 10 p.m. I became worried that something happened to him. So I went with my car looking for him. And on the way, I saw some flames of fires spreading on the sides of the road. When I reached, I was shocked to see that it was my friends car, with the fire eating it up while it was flipped on one of it's sides. I ran like crazy, trying to free my friend from his burning car. I was alarmed to see that half his body was black like charcoal, but he was still alive. So I carried him and placed him on the floor, and after a minute he opened his eyes and said: "The fire! The fire!" So I decided to take him to my car and rush with him to the hospital. But he sobbed: "There's no use, I won't reach."
Tears overcame me as I was watching my friend to die in front of me... Then he stunned me by yelling: "What will I say to Him?! What will I say to Him?!"
"Dumbfounded, I looked at him and asked: "Who?" He replied with a distant voice: "Allah".
I felt fear creep all over my body and I began to shake.Then suddenly he let out an echoing scream, and he took in his last breath. The days passed, but the image of my friend being eaten up by the fire,and him yelling "What will I say to Him?! What will I say to Him?!" never left my mind. I found myself asking "And what will I say to Him?!"
[And all those who disobey Allah, should ask themselves: "What will I say to Him?"
My eyes overflowed with tears and I felt an odd compassionate feeling I never felt before. At that same moment, I heard the Muazzin (the person who calls the Athan -Call to Prayer- ) call for Salat Al-Fajr (Morning Prayer)"Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Hayya 'Ala Al-Salah" (Allah is Great, Allah is Great,Come to Salah).
I felt that it was a call directed to me personally, telling me to close the curtains on the dark years of my life, and calling me to the straight path of guidance and obedience. I washed up, made Wudu, and cleansed my self from the sin I drowned in, and I prayed. Since that day, I have turned to Allah, begging for forgiveness and repentance. I haven't missed one fardh. I became a new person. I try to be a an obedient slave to My Creator. My life has changed
"On the day when the earth will be changed to other than this earth, and the heavens - and they will all come forth standing before Allah, the One, the Dominant above all." [Qur'an Surah Ibrahim 14:48]

| Each Breath |

Each Breath Am I truly grateful for each breath that I take, For each and every moment that I am awake? Do I thank Allah for my restful sleep, And for the dreams that cause me to weep? Am I honestly thankful to the Almighty One, For the early morning mist, the bright, rising sun? During Fajr prayer, I use my soft prayer mat, As Allah?s servant, do I appreciate that? Throughout the day, do I realize, That Allah, All knowing and the Most Wise, Gives me what I need and so much more And that I have so much to be grateful for? The scent of fresh rain, a small child?s laugh, My sisters who choose to stand for Islam, Each piece of fruit, each glass of water, Brothers protecting their sons and their daughters. A grandmother?s love, a book of hadith, The clothes that I wear, the food that I eat. The book that I should follow, the Holy Quran, Promoting the good and ending the wrong. So I must ask myself every beautiful day, Am I truly grateful for each breath that I take, For each and every moment that I am awake? Do I thank Allah for my restful sleep, And for the dreams that cause me to weep?

| Ten Thing We Waste |

1. --Our Knowledge-- Wasted by not taking action with it. 2. --Our Actions-- Wasted by committing them without sincerity. 3. --Our Wealth-- Wasted by using on things that will not bring us ajr (reward from Allah). We waste our money, our status, our authority, on things which have no benefit in this life or in the akhirah (hereafter). 4. --Our Hearts-- Wasted because they are empty from the love of Allah (swt) and his Messenger (sallallahu 'alahi wasallam), and a feeling of peace and contentment. In it's place, our hearts are filled with something someone else. 5. --Our Bodies-- Wasted because we don't use them in ibadah (worship) and service of Allah. 6. --Our Love-- Our emotional love is misdirected, not towards Allah or his Beloved habib (saw), but towards something or someone else. 7. --Our Time-- Wasted, not used properly, to compensate for that which has passed, by doing what is righteous to make up for past deeds. 8. --Our Intellect-- Wasted on things that are not beneficial, that are detremental to society and the individual, not in contemplation or reflection. 9. --Our Service-- Wasted in service of someone who will not bring us closer to Allah, moreover something that will benefit us in dunya. 10. -- Our Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah) -- Wasted, because it does not effect us or our hearts. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah, verily in the remembrance of Allah do the hearts find solace. (13: 28)

There was a blind man sitting on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet and a sign that read:
"I am blind, please help".
A creative publicist was walking by him and stopped to observe he only had a few coins in his hat, he dropped a few more coins in his hat and without asking for his permission took the sign, turned it around, and wrote another announcement. He placed the sign by his feet and left.
That afternoon the creative publicist returned by the blind man and noticed that his hat was full of bills and coins. The blind man recognized his footsteps and asked if it was him who had re-written his sign and he wanted to know what did he write on it? The publicist responded: "Nothing that was not true, “ I just rewrote your sign differently".
He smiled and went on his way. The blind man never knew but his new sign Read:
"TODAY IS SPRING AND I CANNOT SEE IT". Change your strategy when something does not go your way and you'll see it will probably be for the best. Have faith that every change is best for our lives.

The love of the Beloved must be unconditionally returned.
If you claim love yet oppose the Beloved, then your love is but a pretence
. You love the enemies of your Beloved and still seek love in return.
You fight the beloved of your Beloved. Is this Love or the following of shaytaan? True devotion is nothing but total submission of body and soul to One Love.
We have seen humans claim to submit, yet their loyalties are many.
They put their trust here, and their hope there, and their love is without consequence.

What if, Allah took away the Quran tomorrow because we would not read it today?
What if,Allah took away His message because we failed to listen to the messenger?
What if, the door of the Mosque was closed because we did not open the door of our heart?
What if, Allah stopped loving and caring for us because we failed to love and care for others?
What if, Allah would not hear us to! day because we would not listen to Him?
